Dragon cake!

I made this cake for two little cousins-once-removed. Ethan is celebrating his 5th birthday and Milo is celebrating his 2nd birthday! The theme was dragons so I made a dark chocolate fudge dragon with vanilla buttercream and it was a hit! It was my first time sculpting a cake--pretty fun! I can't wait to try it again. The dragon's fire was supposed to be lighting the candles on the mini birthday cake. Next time I'll definitely use a bigger board so there's more room for that!

Clothesline Cake

I made a clothesline cake for my sister's baby shower. There are definitely things I will do differently next time but the cake was a hit...dark chocolate fudge cake with vanilla buttercream. My sister saved the cake topper - a little fondant baby hiding in baby clothes and blankets in a laundry basket.

Bridal bouquet

I made this bouquet cake for my cousin Heidi's wedding shower. I think it's my favorite to date! The bouquet cake was yellow and the square cake was chocolate--all with vanilla buttercream. It's hard to tell from the photographs but there were little cake sparkles on the square cake that made it shimmery.

Super Bowl XLI

I made this stadium cake for the annual Lounsbury Super Bowl party. The "dirt" layer was chocolate and the stadium layer was yellow cake. Forgive the poor job with the white icing--I didn't leave myself enough white OR enough time before the party. ;)

Course Three Final Cake!

I did it! I made it through my third Wilton course. I did my final class cake tonight--my first tiered cake! I love it and can't wait to see what I can create when I really have more practice! The petunias and drop flowers were made in royal icing. The bottom tier is devil's food and the top tier is yellow cake. All covered in vanilla buttercream and homemade marshmallow fondant.

Little Bundles of Joy

I made lots of little fondant babies, nestled under pink blankets for my sister's friend Sara's "comfy & cozy" baby shower. They were a big hit! I still have my favorite little baby sitting on the dining room table.
